Duo Dilemma’s 8th album, entitled “Mozart Dialogues”, is inspired by the musical world of the great composer and beloved creator W.A. Mozart. Using musical themes by the composer as a starting point and combining them with original compositions, Dilemma presents an unpredictable conversation through their unique musical identity, lyrically rendering original variations of themes in original interpretations. Keeping in mind that the great composer was also one the greatest improvisers of all time, Dilemma approach the compositions from an improvisational perspective.
Regardless of how the musicians intervene in any composition, the common element is that there is an overall discipline in the entire atmosphere of the musical piece. The two instruments, the tenor saxophone and the guitar, for which Mozart did not write works, become a kind of laboratory for further exploration. Sometimes faithfully, sometimes freely, they exchange ideas between the original score and the on-the-spot fluidity of improvisation.
Mozart’s works are characterized by a sense of structure, control, symmetry, balance, purity and exceptional melodic lines. Mozart was not just another musician or composer, but the epitome of human culture in its highest and most sensitive aspects. “Mozart Dialogues” is a musical work of multiple readings that managed to be completed during an unexpected period of intense emotions. Ten Mozart compositions were selected, which were subjected to the musical expression, soundscapes and worldview of Duo Dilemma, hoping to offer beauty, emotion and freedom.
