After the success of their album The Passing which had its live debut at Birdland in New York,

the George Kontrafouris Trio return with Tribute to Bill Evans. Recorded at Artracks Studios in Greece, this time the trio reinterprets the work of Bill Evans bringing to it their unique chemistry.

Kontrafouris, with his extensive and diverse back catalogue, is able to bring out the influences of the impressionist movement in Evans’ work, while infusing it with his own individual stylings. His collaborators, Kimon Karoutzos (bass) and Jason Wastor (drums) both based in New York, are musical forces in their own right. Together, the three musicians create a cohesive sound that is at once respectful of Evans the great master, but at the same time liberated, using Evan’s compositions as a springboard to launch into their own journey of exploration into his sonic universe. They return with this gem of an album.
