Irida Classical presents the first release with works by composer Fanis Antonopoulos entitled “The City into the Void”.
The album contains works for chamber ensembles, where the composer attempts to reflect a philosophical dimension in relation to his position as an individual in society.
The works are:
At Our Times, for violin and viola. Stella Tsani – violin, Ilias Sdoukos – viola.
Idea, for saxophone quartet. Athenaeum Saxophone Quartet
Looking Up at a Different Sun, for two trombones. Andreas Theodorou Rolandos – Trombone
City Into the Void, sonata for violin and piano. Dionysis Vervitsiotis – violin, Lefki Carpodini – piano
Desire, for clarinet and piano. Angelos Politis – clarinet, Victoria Kiazimi – piano
“In his compositions he gives great weight and attention to detail. His writing is dominated by economy, in loving coexistence with an innate elegance. On closer listening, as with the works in this album, or even on reading the score, the incorporation of elements from contemporary musical idioms, mainly from jazz, but also from rock, is evident. But all this is done in a discreet and relevant way, especially in his works where wind instruments dominate. It is an element that highlights his talent.”
