
Mezzo soprano Elena Marangou was born in Athens, Greece.
Well received for her warm voice and musicality, she performs with the Philharmonie Düsseldorf, the Altstadt Herbstorchester Düsseldorf, the Athens State Orchestra, the Greek Radio Symphonic Orchestra, the Athens Camerata-Armonia Athenea, the Orchestra of Colours, the Athens Chamber Orchestra, the Municipal Orchestras of Athens and Thessaloniki, the Orchestra of Patras, the Academica Athens Orchestra, as well as the Greek National Opera and baroque and chamber music ensembles. Conductors she has worked with include Christopher Warren-Green, Helmut Rilling, Philippe Auguin, Thorsten Göbel, George Petrou, Zoi Tsokanou, Miltos Logiadis, Loukas Karytinos, Vyron Fidetzis, Nikos Vassiliou, Yorgos Ziavras

An active recitalist she has appeared in England, Spain, Germany, as well as in numerous festivals in Greece.
OPERA
In her recent participation in the Athens Festival she sang Humana Fragilita/Ericlea in C. MONTEVERDI’ S “ Il Ritorno d’ Ulisse in Patria”. She collaborates regularly with the Greek National Opera in productions such as W.A.MOZART “Die Zauberflöte” (3rd Lady), J.STRAUSS “Die Fledermaus” (Orlofsky), A.VIVALDI “Orlando Furioso” (Ruggiero) V. BELLINI “Sonnambula” (Teresa), J.MASSENET “Manon” (Rosette), , G.PUCCINI “Manon Lescaut” (Musico), “Madame Butterfly (Kate Pinkerton) G.VERDI “Rigoletto” (Giovanna), S.BARBER “A Hand of Bridge” (Sally), D.MILHAUD “Trois Opéras Minute” (“L’Enlévement d’Europe”, “La Délivrance de Thésée” and “L’Abandon d’ Ariane” ( Alto) etc., as well as many contemporary operas of greek composers, often in first presentation. She sang the role of Licida in the first world revival of G.B.PAISIELLO’S “Olympiade” at the Festival of Ancient Corinth.
DISCOGRAPHY
Her personal album “Into a Children’s Room” with songs by F.POULENC, B.BRITTEN, M.MUSSORGSKY, J.BRAHMS, P.KOUKOS, G.COUROUPOS, A.BALTAS, with pianist Tobias Krampen, was released in February 2018,(IRIDA CLASSICAL). Her discography also includes the roles of Nena and Woman in N.MAMANGAKIS’S contemporary operas “Erofili” and “Odyssea” (IDAIA records), as well as D.KIPARISSI’S song cycle “Sunday’s Fireworks” (SOUNDSTEPS records).
STUDIES
Elena Marangou first studied classical singing at the “Athenaeum Conservatory” with Kaiti Kopanitsa. She received an Honour’s Degree in classical singing (class of Marina Krilovici) and continued her training with Dafne Evangelatos, Aris Christofellis, Mechthild Stamatakis and Ingeborg Danz. She holds degrees in Law and European Institutions from the Universities of Athens and Surrey, U.K. She speaks english, french and german.
