The composer’s works for string quartet occupy a special position in his award winning catalogue as they are accepted as a whole as his most complete offering.

The New Hellenic Quartet was one of the most important ensembles to perform works by contemporary Greek composers and had a close working relationship with the composer. The lasting result of their collaboration is this recording, which gives us the chance to appreciate the full scope of Dragatikis’ string quartets – from Quartet no. 1, which was his first long form composition, to Quartet no. 7, his final work overall.
